[ARCHIVED] Gundlach Named Community Development Director

Janice Gundlach_CDD

Planning and economic development veteran Janice Gundlach has been selected to lead the City of Roseville’s Community Development Department, City Manager Patrick Trudgeon announced Wednesday.

Gundlach replaces Kari Collins, who accepted a role with Ramsey County in November.

As Community Development Director, Gundlach will manage a staff of 13 and oversee Roseville’s economic development strategies, land use and planning policies, building permits and inspections, and code enforcement. Her first day on the job will be Monday, February 11.

“We are thrilled to announce Janice as Roseville’s Community Development Director,” said Trudgeon. “Having worked next door in New Brighton for so long, she knows Roseville well and will hit the ground running. Janice brings strong technical proficiency in planning and economic development along with leadership and management skills that will help the city continue to build on the success of the past several years.”

A resident of New Brighton, Gundlach possesses more than 15 years of planning and community development experience. She comes to Roseville from the City of Inver Grove Heights, where she has served as Community Development Director since July of 2018.

Prior to Inver Grove Heights, Gundlach served the community of New Brighton for more than 12 years, including the last four years overseeing the day-to-day community development and economic development operations as the city’s Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development.

Gundlach got her start in city government as an associate planner at the City of Lakeville in 2002. She also served as City Planner for the City of Orono from 2003 to 2006 before joining the staff at the City of New Brighton.

“I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to work for the City of Roseville,” Gundlach said. “Throughout the interview process, the staff showed great passion for their work. I can't wait to become a part of the team and continuing the great work that is being done.”

Gundlach possesses a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Community Developer’s Council and the Economic Development Association of Minnesota.
