Roseville Fire now has its own Little Free Library. The library was built by firefighter Josh Waylander and designed to look like the Roseville Fire Station located at 2701 Lexington Ave.
The department's Little Free Library is currently stocked with books about fire safety, but all book genres are welcome for exchange.
For the past 10 years, people throughout the world have been building Little Free Libraries. It started in 2009, when Todd Bol created the first Little Free Library in tribute to his mother who had been a teacher.
Ten years later, his idea has snowballed into a worldwide book-sharing movement. There are now more than 90,000 registered Little Free Libraries in all 50 states and 91 countries, and an estimated 120 million books have been shared through the libraries.
There are several other Little Free Libraries on city property in Roseville. Look for them at Lexington Park, Keller Mayflower Park, Pioneer Park, the Roseville Skating Center and the Central Park Arboretum. An additional Little Free Library will be installed this summer at Midland Gardens Park.
