The City of Roseville has cancelled its annual Rosefest celebration for 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The cancellations are part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s updated summer operations plan.
Included in the announced cancellations are the city’s popular 4th of July Party in the Park and fireworks show over Bennett Lake on Saturday, July 4 as well as the Run and Roll for the Roses on Saturday, June 27, and the Rose Parade on Monday, June 29.
The cancellations are part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s updated summer 2020 program and facility plans. Several events that may be modified to comply with anticipated social distancing guidelines are still in the works, department officials noted. These programs will be analyzed with final decisions to come as additional guidance becomes available.
To assist residents’ understanding of the status of specific programs, all recreation programs will be classified into the following categories beginning Friday, May 15: tentatively moving forward with modification, awaiting more information, or canceled. All programs will be analyzed on an ongoing basis and move between the categories as more information becomes available.
Parks and Recreation officials are also developing a comprehensive phased reopening plan so that facilities such as the Roseville Skating Center, the Harriett Alexander Nature Center (HANC), the Cedarholm Community Building as well as park buildings and picnic shelters can safely reopen to the public as soon as state guidance on gatherings and groups is announced.
City parks and trails, the Cedarholm Golf Course, the disc golf course at Acorn Park, and tennis courts remain open for use with social distancing at this time, offering opportunities for residents to stay active.
The Parks and Recreation Department will continue to monitor the latest guidance from the Governor and state health officials to determine the feasibility of hosting future programming opportunities.
