Funtastic Friday Field Trips

6 years old and older



Join us on Fridays as we adventure to exciting locations. Pre-registration is required by the registration deadline or until the trip fills. Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. and until 5:30 p.m. for an additional $8 per trip. Please select the option during registration. 

Drop-off and pick-up for each trip will take place at Autumn Grove Park Building at Lydia and Hamline. Please arrive at the time listed to allow for check-in and trip preparation. Return times are approximate, due to traffic and other issues outside our control, please be prompt to stated return time when picking up your participant. 

Please note: we rely on you, as parents and guardians, to use discretion in determining whether your participant is mature enough to attend events on their own. 

Science Museum of Minnesota and Zero Gravity

Friday, June 14 

Walk with dinosaurs at the Science Museum of Minnesota! Enjoy interactive, hands-on fun as you learn about many subjects including, the Mississippi River and the human body, and experience the giant Omnitheater. After this we will go to Zero Gravity in Mounds View and spend time jumping on their trampolines, enjoying the foam pit, using the climbing wall, and playing dodgeball and basketball. Bring a nut-free bag lunch, refillable water bottle and wear shoes with socks.

Conquer Ninja Warrior and Blainbrook Bowling

Friday, June 21 

Learn and build your ninja skills at Conquer Ninja Warrior. Participants climb, jump and leap from one obstacle to another to become a true Ninja Warrior. Next we head to Blainbook to enjoy a pizza lunch and bowling. Participants who have a dietary need may bring their own lunch or money to purchase alternative food from Blainbrook. Please bring a refillable water bottle and wear shoes with socks.

Valleyfair

Friday, Jun 28 

From flips and dips to a 200-foot drop, there is excitement galore on Valleyfair’s seven thrilling roller coasters, including Steel Venom, an impulse coaster with a twist! Don’t miss Power Tower - 275 feet of extreme scream! For those looking for relaxed thrills, the park offers a myriad of magical delights. There’s something for everyone at Valleyfair! All rides inside the park are included in admission, including the water rides. We will not be visiting Challenge Go Cart Park. Bring a nut-free bag luch, refillable water bottle, swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.

Bunker Beach Water Park

Friday, July 5 

Need a break from hot sun? What better way to do so then at Minnesota’s largest outdoor water park, where the water is always cool! Take a ride down six unique water slides, float along the Lazy Loop, or challenge yourself by climbing one of the 10 foot aqua climb walls. Make sure to visit the sand play area to build sand castles or make rivers. Please bring a bag lunch, swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen.

MN Sea Life Aquarium and Nicelodeon Universe

Friday, July 12 

Imagine traveling 300 feet in an ocean tunnel where sharks, stingrays and giant sea turtles swim so close you will feel like you can reach out and touch them.Join us as we explore the Minnesota Sea Life Aquarium at the Mall of America. Not only will we be able to walk around the biggest mall in the USA, we will also have fun at Nickelodeon Universe. Hop on the Fairly Odd Coaster or take a ride on SpongeBob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge. You will have a blast on whichever rides you choose! Please bring a nut-free bag lunch and a refillable water bottle.

Fantastic Mr. Fox and Skateville

Friday, July 19 

Mr. Fox is smart, clever and rather fantastic, but can he save his family and friends from a trip of spiteful, nasty, smelly farmers who are out to get them? Sidekick Theatre presents a hilarious, toe-tapping new musical in celebration of courage, family and community. Next up is Skateville to roller skate the afternoon away. Roller skate rentals are included in the participation fee. Please bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, and wear shoes with socks.

Como Zoo and Can Can Wonderland

Friday, July 26 

Bison, flamingos, gorillas oh my! Join us as we explore Como Zoo and Conservatory. We start our morning withthe Creepy Creature Confessions lead by an expert at the Zoo! After exploring we jump back on the bus and head to Can Can Wonderland. We will enjoy playing the 18 artist-inspired hole mini golf. We will also have some time to spend at the Boardwalk Arcade, playing vintage arcade games ranging from pinball to ping pong. Please bring a bag lunch and refillable water bottle.

The Works Museum and Hyland Park

Friday, August 2

This trip heads to The Works Museum to examine how light travels, changes direction, and is refracted. Participants will get to build and engineer a colorful kaleidoscope to take home. Traveling to Hyland Park we will explore and climb the hexagonal climbers that end with slides up to 50 feet long! Please bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, and wear closed-toed shoes and socks.

Crystal Cave

Friday, August 9

Discover the wonders of Crystal Cave and explore the passages more than 70 feet below ground. We will learn the history and geology and all about bats in Wisconsin’s longest cave. We will get a hands-on experience while panning for gemstones and take home all the treasures we find. Please bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, and wear close-toed shoes and socks.

Minnesota Zoo

Friday, August 16

Join us as we head to the wildest place in the Twin Cities, the Minnesota Zoo! Housing 4,880 animals, including 551 species, the Minnesota Zoo offers cutting-edge exhibits so you can get introduced to the animals in their habitats. At the end of the day we will cool off in the splash pad and enjoy time on the playground. Please bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.

Como Park and Vertical Endeavors 

Friday, August 23

Spend the morning at Como Park as we walk, climb and play while enjoying nature. Heading to Vertical Endeavors, we will learn proper rock climbing techniques in a controlled and fun atmosphere. Whether trying rock climbing for the first time or an avid climber, Vertical Endeavors makes the experience a great time for all participants. Please bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, and wear close toed shoes and socks.
