Zoning Code
Overview
The Zoning Code regulates things like signs and parking, but its most important purpose is to regulate how a building or piece of land may be used. Land uses are separated into categories
Land Use Categories
Land Use Type |
Examples |
---|---|
Residential | Single-family houses, town homes, apartment buildings |
Commercial |
Stores, restaurants, offices |
Employment |
Laboratories, factories, warehouses, business parks |
Institutional |
Schools, churches, museums |
Zoning Districts
Land uses categories are further refined in the zoning code, and similar land uses are clustered onto contiguous properties. Areas of similar land uses are called districts. Use the zoning map to find the zoning designation on a property.
